The DISOMAT Tersus is the modern successor to the long-running DISOMAT B Plus from QLAR (formerly Schenck Process) — a compact weighing terminal engineered to handle cargo, crane, filling, and discharge scales from a single platform. Increased processing power handles intensive computational tasks; integrated Ethernet, fieldbus, and USB options drop it cleanly into PLC- or PC-driven control systems.
This is the VEG 20450 — the panel mount unit variant of the DISOMAT Tersus family. The electronics, software, and capabilities are identical to the other four housing options; the housing is selected to match your installation environment.

Designed for flush mounting into operator panels and control cabinet doors. The shallow plastic housing and minimal depth make the VEG the workhorse variant for OEM scale system builders integrating DISOMAT Tersus behind a panel cutout.

The DISOMAT Tersus ships with four function variants stored in firmware — select the mode that matches your application at commissioning, and use the DISOPLAN PC configuration software to adapt parameters to your specific scale. Truck scale (in/out) and crane scale with collective load memory are additional optional modes.
01Cargo scale
Standard gross/net/tare weighing for warehouse, dispatch, and goods-in/goods-out workflows. Configurable print formats handle shipping documents and receiving tickets directly from the terminal.
02Crane scale
Stable-weight capture for moving loads on overhead and gantry cranes. Optional collective-load memory aggregates multiple lifts against a single job or batch identifier.
03Filling scale
Two-speed fill control with preact compensation and tolerance checking. Binary outputs drive valves, screw feeders, and discharge gates directly — no separate fill controller needed for basic applications.
04Discharge scale
Loss-in-weight dosing from a feed hopper or storage vessel onto downstream processes. Two-speed dribble feed and tolerance check ensure repeatable target deliveries.
Field calibration: Scale calibration data is stored on a removable dongle, so the terminal electronics can be swapped for service without recalibrating the scale. An Ethernet interface (10/100BASE-T) is integrated as standard. Three serial ports support RS232, RS422, and RS485 simultaneously, and four USB 2.0 host ports handle local data export, printer connection, and removable-memory expansion. Optional fieldbus boards plug into the same chassis for PROFIBUS, PROFINET, DeviceNet, and EtherNet/IP networks.
Native protocol support includes Siemens 3964R, S5 (RK512), Modbus, and Schenck DDP — the DISOMAT Tersus speaks the languages that industrial controls infrastructure expects, without translation gateways. Up to six configurable print formats handle ticket printing, shipping documents, and batch reports.

Which housing variant should I choose?
Five housings, same electronics. VEG 20450 for panel cut-out integration into operator consoles. VTG 20450 for standalone desktop use. VKG 20450 for washdown and food-grade installations (IP65 stainless). VNG 20450 for 19" rack-mount control cabinets. VFG 20450 for outdoor, crane, and field installations in sheet-steel housing.
Is the DISOMAT Tersus legal-for-trade?
The DISOMAT Tersus electronics are designed and built to a legal-for-trade calibration standard of up to 8,000 d, with multi-range / multi-interval configurations up to 3 × 4,000 d. Regional certifications (NTEP in the US, OIML internationally) are applied by the manufacturer per market — consult the current QLAR certification documentation for your jurisdiction.
What can connect over the standard interfaces?
The built-in Ethernet handles PC connections, network printers, and SCADA links. The three serial ports handle dedicated printers, remote displays, and serial-attached PLCs. USB host ports accept thumb drives for data export, USB printers, and barcode scanners. Optional fieldbus boards add PROFIBUS, PROFINET, or DeviceNet.
How is the terminal configured?
Either directly on the device through the menu system, or remotely with the DISOPLAN PC configuration program (sold separately as VPL 20430 including cable). DISOPLAN handles parameter setup, calibration, and backup/restore of the configuration.
What happens to the calibration if the electronics need replacement?
Calibration data is stored on a removable dongle, not in the electronics. If the terminal needs to be replaced for service, the dongle moves to the new unit and calibration is preserved — no need to recalibrate the scale. This is a meaningful uptime advantage on legal-for-trade installations where every recalibration means downtime plus weights-and-measures involvement.
What's the operating temperature range?
−30 °C to +60 °C operating, with the terminal calibratable anywhere between −30 °C and +40 °C. That makes it suitable for outdoor truck scales in cold climates, refrigerated and freezer warehousing, and elevated process temperatures — coverage that lower-cost generic terminals usually don’t match.
