IP67 means sealed against temporary immersion — good for splash zones. IP69K is the highest rating: sealed against high-pressure, high-temperature close-range water jets, written specifically for the kind of daily sanitation hose-down a food plant runs. "Washdown" on its own isn't a standard — we spec to the actual ingress rating you need so it means something.

304 stainless handles most washdown duty. 316 adds molybdenum for better resistance to chlorides and aggressive caustic or acid cleaners — the call for harsh sanitation chemistry or coastal/saline environments. Tell us the cleaners you run and we spec the right grade for the enclosure and cells.

Yes, when the whole chain is specified for it. Stainless construction, IP69K sealing, potted junctions, and drainage geometry are built to take the caustic clean-in-place cycle, not just a rinse. The failure mode is usually one un-rated link — a painted box or a cheap gland — which is exactly what we design out.

Because the junction is the link most scales skimp on. A painted or poorly-sealed summing box lets moisture into the terminals and the readings drift or die — even when the cells and indicator are rated. We use stainless WTX boxes with potted terminals and sealed glands so the connection carries the same rating as the rest of the chain.
