    Two optoisolated inputs and two optoisolated outputs, plugged into the terminal.

    The SysTec PIM (SKU 20491) is a plug-on digital I/O module for SysTec weighing terminals. Inserted in the PIM socket on the mainboard, it provides drivers for two optoisolated inputs (12–24 V DC) and two optoisolated outputs (12–24 V DC, 100 mA max.).

    02 / 05What the inputs and outputs do

    Assigned by the terminal's operating mode.

    What each input and output does is set in the terminal, not in the module. The IT1 manual lists the assignment per operating mode; the other terminals offer comparable functions.

    Inputs E0 and E1

    In the basic, counting and checking modes, E0 captures the weight or sets zero and E1 tares. In the filling mode, E0 starts and E1 interrupts the cycle.

    Outputs A0 and A1

    Switched from weight limits (net weight below, above, between or outside the setpoints S1/S2), or used as filling fast / filling slow in the filling mode.

    Weight ok / out of tolerance

    In the checking mode the two outputs signal ‘weight ok’ and ‘out-of-tolerance’.

    Which terminals take the PIM.

    SysTec calls these terminals IT1, IT3, IT4000E, IT6000E and IT8000E; WeightechUSA sells them as WT1, WT3, WT4000, WT6000 and WT8000. The PIM is listed as an option on all five.

    WT1 and WT3

    One PIM socket (PIM1) on the mainboard. The same socket also takes the DAU15 analog output module, but digital I/O via the PIM and the analog output cannot be used at the same time.

    WT4000, WT6000 and WT8000

    Two PIM sockets (PIM1 and PIM2), listed as ‘2 x PIM’ in the option tables.

    PIM, not PIM500

    This is the standard PIM with 100 mA outputs. SysTec also lists a PIM500 with 500 mA outputs for the IT1 and IT3 only; on the IT4000E and IT6000E the manual states that a PIM500 cannot be used.

    Are the inputs and outputs 24 V only?

    No. Inputs and outputs are rated for 12 to 24 V DC. Each input draws up to 7 mA and each output can switch up to 100 mA.

    Is this the PIM or the PIM500?

    This module is the PIM, with 100 mA outputs. The PIM500 (500 mA outputs) is a separate part for the WT1 and WT3.

    How many I/O points do I get?

    Two inputs and two outputs per module. The WT4000, WT6000 and WT8000 have two PIM sockets, the WT1 and WT3 one.
