Cable-free livestock weighing with ear-tag integration.

The WTBT-CO is a Bluetooth weighing transmitter built specifically for livestock workflows. It connects directly to up to four 350 Ω load cells (the standard weigh-bar or alley-scale configuration), streams live weight to an Android phone over Bluetooth 4.0 at up to 30 m, and — the differentiating feature — integrates an RFID ear-tag reader on a dedicated serial port. One animal walks onto the scale, the ear tag is read, the weight is captured, the record is logged — no manual tag entry, no clipboard.

A second RS-232 port drives Weightech remote displays (DR-WT75, DR-WT125, DR-WT200, or the WT-Display) so the operator at the chute sees the weight from across the alley. Dedicated livestock mode handles moving-animal stability. Polycarbonate IP65 housing survives the barn, the yard, and the tailgate.

Three things make the WTBT-CO different from a generic BT transmitter.

    EAR-TAG RFID

    Dedicated RFID reader port

Serial 1 (RS-232) is dedicated to an electronic ear-tag reader. The WTBT-CO captures the RFID tag and the weight reading together — one animal, one record, automatically. Compatible with standard 134.2 kHz HDX/FDX-B livestock ear-tag readers.

    REMOTE DISPLAYS

Drive the displays the operator can actually see

Serial 2 (RS-232) drives Weightech remote display units: DR-WT75 (compact), DR-WT125 (mid-size), DR-WT200 (large outdoor), or the WT-Display. From across the chute the operator reads the weight in real-time.

    LIVESTOCK MODE

Stable weight on a moving animal

Dedicated livestock-weighing mode captures a stable reading from an animal that won't stop moving — multi-sample averaging combined with tunable digital filters. Tunable to handle calves through bulls, sheep through cattle, or alpaca through swine.

    FIELD-READY

    Polycarbonate IP65, free Android app

Tool-free calibration and configuration through the free WTBT Cal and WTBT Android apps. Three status LEDs (low battery, BT link, calibration) for at-a-glance check from anywhere in the barn.

    03 / 05Data flow

One animal → one record → three destinations.

When an animal steps onto the scale, the WTBT-CO captures the load-cell signal and the RFID tag at the same time. From there, the data goes three places simultaneously: the connected ear-tag reader logs the ID, the remote display shows the weight to the operator, and the BT-paired Android phone records the weighing event in WTBT (the herd-management app).

For an integrator building a complete livestock-handling system, the WTBT-CO is the data hub at the chute — it ties the scale, the ID reader, the visible display, and the operator's mobile device into one workflow without a fixed indicator or PC tether.

    05 / 05FAQ

Common questions from ranchers and livestock integrators.

Which ear-tag readers work with the WTBT-CO?

Any RS-232 serial RFID reader for livestock ear tags (typically 134.2 kHz HDX/FDX-B per ISO 11784/11785). Contact our sales team with your reader model and we'll confirm baud-rate and message-format compatibility before you order.

Which remote displays does the second serial port drive?

The Weightech DR-WT75 (compact), DR-WT125 (mid-size), DR-WT200 (large outdoor), or the WT-Display. All four are off-the-shelf Weightech remote display units and connect directly via RS-232 with the WTBT-CO's native serial output format.

Can I use the WTBT-CO without an ear-tag reader?

Yes — the ear-tag integration is optional. Without a reader connected, the WTBT-CO acts as a standard livestock-grade Bluetooth transmitter: weight data streams to the Android app and to the remote display. Add a reader later when you're ready to automate ID capture.

What's the difference between the WTBT-CO and the WT3000-IR-AG cattle scale kit?

The WT3000-IR-AG is a complete chute-side weighing kit with two weigh bars, a hardware indicator, IP65 carry case, and 40-hour battery — designed for the rancher who wants a turnkey solution. The WTBT-CO is the transmitter that sits between the scale and a phone / display / RFID reader — designed for system integrators or scale builders constructing a custom livestock setup with their own platform and accessories.

How does the moving-animal capture work?

Dedicated livestock mode samples the load-cell signal many times over a short capture window and computes a stable reading using tunable digital filters — the same approach as the HOLD-mode animal-weighing functions on hardware indicators. Tuning the filter aggressiveness handles everything from a quiet ewe to an excited bull.

Is the WTBT-CO suitable for sale-barn / auction weighing?

For commercial sale-barn applications where the weight is the basis of a sale price, an NTEP legal-for-trade indicator is the right choice (the WT3000P or WT3000-IR-AG-NTEP variants). The WTBT-CO is positioned for production weighing — herd records, growth tracking, feed monitoring, sorting — rather than transaction-grade commercial weighing.
